DASTARDS play at the Firefly in Worcester tomorrow night (6th May – Election night). Starts at 8pm (don’t be late). Also on are Tantrums and Barefoot. Not seen either of these before.

Plus a TV company has asked the band to audition on 13th May for a forthcoming TV programme. (That’s all we can say on that one).
And DASTARDS have re-recorded The Sympathy March at the Magic Garden Studio. The track was produced by Gavin Monaghan (who also produced The Editors, The Twang, Kings of Leon, Ocean Colour Scene etc. etc.)
And BBC Hereford & Worcester played ‘Pylon’ last Friday night. I sent them the newly recorded track but I suspect that it takes a while to get through the BBC’s ‘uploader’ system ..

Tom Robinson (soon ‘Glad to be Grey’) is playing TAKE A LEFT by DASTARDS on his ‘Fresh on the Net’ show this weekend (17th / 18th April).
Tom has played a number of DASTARDS tracks over the past 18 months – and we really appreciate it. It’s not like we know him – although he has emailed us a couple of times – so these tracks are being played on their merit alone.
Playing DASTARDS tracks on the radio is the ONLY way we will be able to reach a wider audience (bearing in mind how few people go to live gigs these days) so it’s even more important that 6 radio is saved from the BBC axe.
Please everyone – listen to 6 Radio. Contact the BBC – and let them know that scrapping 6 radio will stifle the emergence of great new music.
Thanks.
And a big thanks to Tom and his team.

It’s a New Year – and it’s a new focus for DASTARDS.
After 5 years of playing the toilet circuit the band is breaking through in 2010. In readiness the web sites, logo & image are being updated.
FLASHLIGHTS – the most-played DASTARDS song on national radio is being re-recorded to be even bigger and better. We’ll post a link as soon as it’s ready.
So – remember where you were when DASTARDS broke thru!
All the best for the New Year from all of us at Stretch and DASTARDS
Cheers,
Stretch & Co.

Have a listen to DASTARDS and contact us.
We’ve tried contacting a number of companies and only 1 (one) has even got back to us (and they just want instrumental music). We know that publishing is a specialised area (we want the music actively promoted) so we need a company who ‘get’ the band and the music who can effecively promote the music for films, tv, advertising etc. When they find out that WAKE can also write ‘to order’, and how musically talented DASTARDS are, they will realise what a ‘find’ they have made.
I was under the impression Publishing companies were trying to seek out music they could ‘exploit’ (preferably before the band are huge because then they should be able to make a better deal with the band). However – so far we have drawn a blank. This worries me – because we know that the music has great commercial potential – and if publishers can’t see it – then are they actually any good?
Maybe when one actually gets back to us – we’ll grab their arm off – because – with a bit of luck – we will have found one of the few companies out there who know what they are doing!

By Tamlyn Head
“The DASTARDS was a familiar name to me and, although I had never seen them live, they have been pleasing audiences for the last 6 years. A guitar trio – one bass, one rhythm and one acoustic – producing such a refined sound which perfectly supports the singer’s raw sounding, Bob Dylan-reminiscent, yet superbly melodious vocals.
The Dastards are certainly no strangers to live gigs, having been performing for years, and at times, such as the night of Exposure, back-to-back gigs are the order of the night. This said, their performance was as if it was their first, filled with the eagerness to please the audience and all the passion conveyed by only true artists, dedicated to the cause.
Included in the half hour set were songs from their latest album, as well as their cover of Dire Straits’ Romeo & Juliet – a song which sounded as if it was written for this band.
