This week www.TextaTrack.co.uk have made STAYING OUT their featured single of the week. Text a Track is a great, simple music download service which is chart registered. All tracks £1. Simple.

Plus LONELY INBETWEEN is at #10 on the www.TourDates.co.uk chart. It has also just been voted into the ‘Green Room’ at www.FameGames.com

S0 – whilst sometimes we think that the UK music press is ignoring us – some Music sites are LOVING US. (and we love them back!)

Fahrenheit Festival Cancelled

August 5th, 2009

We’ve just heard that the Fahrenheit Festival has been cancelled. We’re gutted – obviously. This is the message on the Fahrenheit site:

Dear all,

It is with regret that the Fahrenheit Festival 2009 due to take place this Friday 7th, 8th and 9th of August has been forced to reschedule.

We are all very sorry for any inconvience caused but due to last minute circumstances beyond our control we have had to take this action now as to avoid the participants of the festival any further disruption. Building on the many partnerships and collaborations that define Fahrenheit we will be back to you soon with details of a number of exciting events and opportunities for unsigned bands and artists.

Many Thanks.
The Fahrenheit Festival Team

Presumably it was poor ticket sales but it’s very sad as it was an interesting idea – to use independent bands who wouldn’t be soaking up huge costs in fees – leaving more money in the pot to promote the event.

Anyway – here are DASTARDS at their last festival (CHAGSTOCK ’09) with FLASHLIGHTS

July 30th, 2009

DASTARDS next gig is the first ever FAHRENHEIT FESTIVAL in Cambridgeshire. The organisers of this festival are to be admired for basing the festival around independent bands / artists. There are 97 bands / artists on the bill. DASTARDS are on 7.20 pm on Sat 8th August. Not to be missed!

DASTARDS Release 4th Single – TAKE A LEFT

June 25th, 2009

DASTARDS are releasing their 4th single called TAKE A LEFT on July 20th 2009 – straight after the CHAGSTOCK FESTIVAL.

TAKE A LEFT has been played on Kerrang Radio several times.

Here are some reviews (from Slice The Pie)

“Very Cocteau Twins! Great song and nice to hear this kind of thing, something different.”

“The vocals were delivered with conviction, I really liked the melody lines. This track is the sort of thing that’s all over the radio at the moment. Very now. This band could go very far. Def tipped by me anyway”

“Good start enjoyed it, really catchy voice could see this one in charts, the beat is good too!”

“Similar vocal style to Placebo but with much more energy and verve. Well written , composed and played”

“Brilliant! Love this track, lyrics, music everything is ace. Excellent sing along – I’ll expect big things from this band!”

“This is a one to rock to and i love the power of the singer and the raw massive energy of the tune. The guitar and drums are great and i can see this doing well.”

“A wonderful start with some excellent playing of the electric guitars, simply amazing and a joy to listen to, love the whole beat to this one. Vocals are very edgey and they have an usual voice which works well against the background music. Brilliant tune and very vibrant. Whole thing has been put together well and I am certain they have potential, loads of energy and talent.”

“The opening is fast and bright and ringing. Some lovely lower strumming joins in giving it a multi level feel. Vocal are charismatic, enthusiastic and the vocalist has such a distinctive voice. I like the liveliness of this track. That little huffing shuffle is a nice soft change from drumming the whole time. Quite a speedy pace and it is a good effect, very much life rushing by and the performers are the participants of the scene. Good clapping section. As though we are all standing back and watching the scene unfold at that point.”

“Really nice guitar playing at the start, awesome infact. Then the bass comes in with some scales behind it and then the drumming. The vocals are cool and very new rocky”

“Amazing energy in this song which made listening enjoyable. Can imagine all listeners rocking to this…great fun song.”

“The strident sunny guitar is blazing and ripe for exposure. Vocals which call to mind Kasiers in their early days work brilliantly. The punky vibe is very now and this could be a hit I think”

His name is Mudie. His first gig with DASTARDS will be at the CHAGSTOCK FESTIVAL (where the band are supporting SQUEEZE). Not a bad first gig!

Calling All Music Publishing Companies!

May 27th, 2009

Have a listen to DASTARDS and contact us.

We’ve tried contacting a number of companies and only 1 (one) has even got back to us (and they just want instrumental music). We know that publishing is a specialised area (we want the music actively promoted) so we need a company who ‘get’ the band and the music who can effecively promote the music for films, tv, advertising etc. When they find out that WAKE can also write ‘to order’, and how musically talented DASTARDS are, they will realise what a ‘find’ they have made.

I was under the impression Publishing companies were trying to seek out music they could ‘exploit’ (preferably before the band are huge because then they should be able to make a better deal with the band). However – so far we have drawn a blank. This worries me – because we know that the music has great commercial potential – and if publishers can’t see it – then are they actually any good?

Maybe when one actually gets back to us – we’ll grab their arm off – because – with a bit of luck – we will have found one of the few companies out there who know what they are doing!

DASTARDS audition Drummers

May 19th, 2009

This week we are auditioning potential drummers for the band.

We are looking for someone special – who understands the music and is a superb musician, who gets what DASTARDS are all about, and who fits in with the rest of the band.

Looking forward to the new person joining – and getting back to full band performances!

Review of DASTARDS at Rubeyz, Bournemouth 3rd May

May 12th, 2009

By Tamlyn Head

“The DASTARDS was a familiar name to me and, although I had never seen them live, they have been pleasing audiences for the last 6 years. A guitar trio – one bass, one rhythm and one acoustic – producing such a refined sound which perfectly supports the singer’s raw sounding, Bob Dylan-reminiscent, yet superbly melodious vocals.

The Dastards are certainly no strangers to live gigs, having been performing for years, and at times, such as the night of Exposure, back-to-back gigs are the order of the night. This said, their performance was as if it was their first, filled with the eagerness to please the audience and all the passion conveyed by only true artists, dedicated to the cause.

Included in the half hour set were songs from their latest album, as well as their cover of Dire Straits’ Romeo & Juliet – a song which sounded as if it was written for this band.
