DASTARDS gig gets moved to The Enterprise

Friday, December 11th, 2009

Last nights gig was moved at the last minute (we only heard during the drive down) – and was therefore a complete shambles. We had to stop and get the details of the new venue. So the band arrived late. All the people who were coming to see the band went to the original venue – and couldn’t get in because it was a private party.

So – the band had no time to sound check, were still stressed out from the journey (the road was closaed outside the venue so it meant an extra 20 minutes trying to find another route in London traffic), there were very few people there (even though the pub downstairs was full).

Anyway – the band gave it their best shot and then retreated outside to re-group.

Highlight of the evening? Hearing the new version of FLASHLIGHTS. It was only a rough mix but it sounds FANTASTIC!

Can you tell they are pissed off?

Let’s hope next weeks gigs are better. They are at THE JAILHOUSE in HEREFORD on WEDNESDAY 16th DEC (Hereford 6th Form College’s Christmas Party) and at THE JUNCTION in BRISTOL on 19th Dec 2009.

Tom Robinson plays DASTARDS on 6 Radio

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

On Sunday November 22nd Tom Robinson played PYLON on his BBC 6 Radio show and also featured the track in his weekly podcast.

Tom has previously played STAYING OUT on his show.

So, Tom – a big THANK YOU to you. We will always appreciate those who help the band on the way up. You know who you are!

Aha! Got a new camera – So great DASTARDS photos SOON!

Thursday, November 12th, 2009

After using my little Nikon coolpix camera at nearly every gig since the band formed (back in 2005) I’ve finally got round to buying a Nikon D5000 DSLR which is supposed to take better pics in low light – and HD video too. George Guitar has got a more or less the same camera and Daisy (George’s sister) gets some great shots with it – making mine look a bit naff ..

So – the next DASTARDS gig is in London at the Purple Turtle on 10th Dec – so let’s see what pictures we get then!

Thursday, November 5th, 2009

DASTARDS are rolling up in Bristol this weekend (7th November) at The Cooler. Headlining this time is Kid Carpet. Join us there.

And on Sunday (8th November) DASTARDS are racing over to Birmingham to play alongside Two Door Cinema Club at the Hare & Hounds.

Should be two cracking gigs where the band isn’t headlining so you can compare DASTARDS to some ‘signed’ bands!

See you there.

DASTARDS make a rare trip to LONDON!

Wednesday, September 16th, 2009

Come & see DASTARDS at TOMMY FLYNNS in Camden this Sunday (20th Sept) – just 50p entry. (Even hard up A & R can afford that!)

DASTARDS Tracks featuring on Music Websites

Saturday, August 8th, 2009

This week have made STAYING OUT their featured single of the week. Text a Track is a great, simple music download service which is chart registered. All tracks £1. Simple.

Plus LONELY INBETWEEN is at #10 on the chart. It has also just been voted into the ‘Green Room’ at

S0 – whilst sometimes we think that the UK music press is ignoring us – some Music sites are LOVING US. (and we love them back!)

Fahrenheit Festival Cancelled

Wednesday, August 5th, 2009

We’ve just heard that the Fahrenheit Festival has been cancelled. We’re gutted – obviously. This is the message on the Fahrenheit site:

Dear all,

It is with regret that the Fahrenheit Festival 2009 due to take place this Friday 7th, 8th and 9th of August has been forced to reschedule.

We are all very sorry for any inconvience caused but due to last minute circumstances beyond our control we have had to take this action now as to avoid the participants of the festival any further disruption. Building on the many partnerships and collaborations that define Fahrenheit we will be back to you soon with details of a number of exciting events and opportunities for unsigned bands and artists.

Many Thanks.
The Fahrenheit Festival Team

Presumably it was poor ticket sales but it’s very sad as it was an interesting idea – to use independent bands who wouldn’t be soaking up huge costs in fees – leaving more money in the pot to promote the event.

Anyway – here are DASTARDS at their last festival (CHAGSTOCK ’09) with FLASHLIGHTS

DASTARDS Release 4th Single – TAKE A LEFT

Thursday, June 25th, 2009

DASTARDS are releasing their 4th single called TAKE A LEFT on July 20th 2009 – straight after the CHAGSTOCK FESTIVAL.

TAKE A LEFT has been played on Kerrang Radio several times.

Here are some reviews (from Slice The Pie)

“Very Cocteau Twins! Great song and nice to hear this kind of thing, something different.”

“The vocals were delivered with conviction, I really liked the melody lines. This track is the sort of thing that’s all over the radio at the moment. Very now. This band could go very far. Def tipped by me anyway”

“Good start enjoyed it, really catchy voice could see this one in charts, the beat is good too!”

“Similar vocal style to Placebo but with much more energy and verve. Well written , composed and played”

“Brilliant! Love this track, lyrics, music everything is ace. Excellent sing along – I’ll expect big things from this band!”

“This is a one to rock to and i love the power of the singer and the raw massive energy of the tune. The guitar and drums are great and i can see this doing well.”

“A wonderful start with some excellent playing of the electric guitars, simply amazing and a joy to listen to, love the whole beat to this one. Vocals are very edgey and they have an usual voice which works well against the background music. Brilliant tune and very vibrant. Whole thing has been put together well and I am certain they have potential, loads of energy and talent.”

“The opening is fast and bright and ringing. Some lovely lower strumming joins in giving it a multi level feel. Vocal are charismatic, enthusiastic and the vocalist has such a distinctive voice. I like the liveliness of this track. That little huffing shuffle is a nice soft change from drumming the whole time. Quite a speedy pace and it is a good effect, very much life rushing by and the performers are the participants of the scene. Good clapping section. As though we are all standing back and watching the scene unfold at that point.”

“Really nice guitar playing at the start, awesome infact. Then the bass comes in with some scales behind it and then the drumming. The vocals are cool and very new rocky”

“Amazing energy in this song which made listening enjoyable. Can imagine all listeners rocking to this…great fun song.”

“The strident sunny guitar is blazing and ripe for exposure. Vocals which call to mind Kasiers in their early days work brilliantly. The punky vibe is very now and this could be a hit I think”

And here’s the band playing it live at FESTIBULL
